Essential Study Skills Course
The Essential Study Skills course is recommended as the starting place for all 6th through 12th graders who desire to learn how to better plan, manage, organize and complete their work.
The course teaches the
FUNDAMENTAL SKILLS for STUDY SUCCESS.
These set of skills match what is being asked of a student in school. Mastering these skills will allow students to manage a rigorous curriculum with greater efficacy and efficiency.
The course is broken down in to five (5) Modules:
- Day 1: Who Am I as a Learner
- Day 2: Visual / Text Note-Taking
- Day 3: Auditory Note-Taking
- Day 4: Memory and Test Preparation
- Day 5: Learning from Mistakes
Day 1 Highlights:
Determine the student’s learning and study styles, review their current strengths and provide new organization and time management skills, present new strategies and skills for pacing work.

Parent Involvement:
Parents are invited to join their child for the final hour of the Day Five session, where students will share their binders and understanding of their learning style and study skills choices. This provides an opportunity for children to explain how they will be setting up their study structures, and demonstrate the skills they will employ with their new homework routines. They will also share the results of their diagnostic assessments and how the testing suggests they should most efficiently and successfully approach work.

Benefits:
The Study Skills Course builds greater self-awareness of how a student most effectively learns. This awareness, coupled with new tools to become more efficient and effective in their work, will help grades more accurately represent their intellectual potential.
Class size:
Study skills courses are limited to 10 students. During school-year sessions, any students who participate in the 5-day course may utilize the “coached homework center” at no charge on the days that their class meets. For summer sessions, these homework center “passes” may be utilized during the first 6 months of the school year.

Pricing:
$850 for 5 session course (10 hours total)
