THE COURSE IS SPECIFICALLY TAILORED TO BUILD COLLEGE READINESS.
During this 10-hour / 5-session course we will provide students with:
- 1. THE AWARENESS to identify their goals
2. THE STRATEGIES to build successful habits - 3. THE TOOLS to put it into action
Whether a first-time or returning college student, this course will help you “see” college more clearly and gain a better understanding of what habits you want to take with you and what you want to leave behind.
Course Overview:
For every barrier there is a strategy that can be used to overcome it.
In this course, we teach a study skills system that provides strategies for college-level challenges.
The course is broken down into five (5) two-hour modules:
- Day 1: UNDERSTANDING OUR NEW ENVIRONMENT
- Day 2: PLANNING, INITIATION AND TIME-MANAGEMENT
- Day 3: NOTE-TAKING AND PREPARING FOR TESTS
- Day 4: TEST-TAKING AND SELF-ADVOCACY IN COLLEGE
- Day 5:THE POWER OF GROWTH MINDSET TO BUILD RESILIENCE
Day 1 Highlights:
On Day 1, we will build college resilience by understanding how college works. Why does a syllabus hold the keys to my college success? How does picking the right schedule help me stay focused and motivated? Where do I go when I get stuck? Building awareness of a new environment takes the surprises out and helps students feel more in control. We will explore the student’s role in learning and how we can begin to remove friction from that process. Students will learn how to prioritize study time within their busy schedules and learn best practices in creating a materials organizational system.

THE TOOLS:
Beyond building awareness and strategies, students are given the tools to put these strategies into action, including a:
- – College Syllabus Cheat Sheet
- – Work Windows Calendar
- – Template to Calculate Grades (no surprises!)
- – How to Use / Get Accommodations
- – Executive Function Self-Assessment
BUILDING COLLEGE RESILIENCE:
Building awareness reduces stress and improves readiness.
This course will help students explore questions such as:
– What changes will be the most challenging for me?
– Why does the syllabus hold the keys to my course success?
– How can I create structure within the flexibility of a college schedule?
Identifying barriers (aka “friction”) and creating personalized expectations is what will allow each student to successfully achieve their college goals.

Parent Involvement:
Students and parents receive daily emails with tailored feedback and a summary of the strategies covered each day. This consistent communication ensures students have access to the strategies discussed in the course and provides visibility to parents.
Class size:
The College Study Skills Course is limited to 10 students.

Pricing:
$850 for the 5-session course (10 hours total). Course is 2 hours / day over a single week.
